The Voting Booth At The End Of The Universe
October 13,
2012
Republican'ts under
the contagious control of Donald Chrump continue their decades-old, relentless
obsession with stifling the vote (of non-Republican’ts). They continue to
publicly proclaim that they don’t want too many people voting. And who could
blame them? CONservative icon Paul Weyrich – co-founder of conservative think-tank
the Heritage Foundation who also helped to establish the Moral Majority – spoke very strongly and powerfully to this
issue in the fall of 1980. While I can unfortunately understand the connection
between voter suppression and our Heritage, I'm a little less clear about the
Moral aspect.
Weyrich
bemoaned the fact that “many of our Christians have what I call the ‘Goo-Goo
Syndrome.’ Good government. They want everybody to vote. I don’t want everybody
to vote…As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes
up as the voting populace goes down.” At least Mr. Weyrich had the courage, if
not the good taste to speak his incredibly un-democratic mind in public. Today,
his successors couch their language, hide their contempt for just about
everyone and pretend to be looking out for Democracy.
Donald Chrump: Killing The American
Dream Before It Dies
This anti-vote
philosophy, spoken or hidden remains at the core of the conservative movement.
Conservatives know that higher voter turnout hurts their chances. This will
become even more likely as the American citizenry becomes less and less
dominated by white people. Not sure, but it could have something to do with the
fact that today’s Republican’ts keep shitting on everyone who is not white,
straight, rich and misogynistic.
No one has been
more active in recent months than IMPEACHED president Chrump. Trapped like a blind,
lobotomized rat in a four-dimensional maze, Chrump is doing everything he can to
sabotage the election by lying about voter fraud, the fake horror of mail-in
ballots and by insisting that it is simply impossible for him to lose. Psychotic
much?
Donny Virus
Seed has thus far been unable to kill enough voters to sway the election –
though not for lack of trying, though he has killed more people than the number
by which he sneaked through the Electoral College. Ironically, it is likely
that Chrump and his Save-The-Virus campaign will have killed off more of his
supporters than those of Joe Biden, who for some bizarre reason has gone to great
lengths to avoid infecting himself and those around him.
It Can't
Happen Here…Except When It Can
There were at
least 180 vote-restricting bills introduced in 41 states between January 2011
and June 2012 – thanks to the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act. After
this shameful decision, Chief Justice John Roberts rationalized that racism was
over. How’s that working out for him now? during that time, fourteen states passed
laws making voting more difficult. Those 14 states represent almost 70% of the
electoral votes needed to "win" the presidency thanks to the good old
Electoral College. Naturally these laws were proposed by Republican'ts, passed
by Republican't controlled state legislatures and signed into law by
Republican't governors. Things will only get worse if the Republican’t stranglehold
is not broken before they can use their rigged census to further gerrymander
more voting districts. Everyone must find a way to vote. We do not want the
smoking gun to come in the form of an orange mushroom gas cloud.
I. Mangrey
reporting. Only 20 more cheating days until Election Day. Not sure how many
after.
