While the proverbial frog in a pot of water (who immediately jumps out an survives if thrown into boiling water, but will not attempt to escape until it’s too late if the water is gradually heated) turns out to be myth, it is probably different with humans.

If a fascist takeover of a democratic citizenry happens in a flash, folks might react with an equal and opposite reaction. But when that fascism creeps up more slowly, especially when large swaths of that citizenry has decided they simply cannot always be paying attention, then it is entirely possible that by the time those sitting on the sidelines trying to stay safely cocooned decide to pay closer attention and maybe even act, it could very well be too late.

While it is completely understandable that people feel the need to disengage and just live their lives as peacefully as possible, that peace could very well be permanently shattered by a metaphorical atomic bomb, never again to be within reach for the rest of their natural lives.

Our pot is already aboil. The shock troops are already in the streets, terrorizing, kidnapping, torturing, detaining and disappearing. The creature in charge of this fascist fuckery is a sociopathic criminal, a hate-filled miscreant conman, a treacherous cretin who will stop at nothing to eliminate any and all who dare look at him the wrong way – as if there was a right way to look at him that comported with his demands.

It is later than you think. Objects in mirror and on tv are closer than they appear.
