Music legend Sylvester Stewart, aka Sly Stone passed away yesterday
at the age of 82. He was anything but Everyday People. He was a
phenomenon. Although not Everybody Is A Star, Sly proved that You Can
Make It If You Try. His Life in music was a big Thank You (Falletinme Be
Mice Elf Agin) and his band was truly a Family Affair. Sly was known
to Sing A Simple Song to inspire people to Stand! and Dance To
The Music. The Family Stone would always wanna take you Higher and
have some Hot Fun In The Summertime. Sly was not afraid to wade into the
civil rights movement by showing concern when There’s A Riot Going On or
ruffle some feathers by saying Don’t Call Me N*****r, Whitey.
His music and his legacy will live on in his absence. Many,
including this reporter have long predicted that Sly will either be late or not
show up for his own funeral.
Sly Stone will be missed.
