Resignation Day(s) 2023, Day Two

No More Shopping Days Left Before Resignation Day(s)

August 9, 2023

If there could be anything better than impeaching someone like Richard Nixon (once) or Donald Turmp (twice), it would be indicting someone like Donald Turmp and finding him guilty, perhaps even LOCKING HIM UP. With Nixon, it was said that the cover-up was worse than the crime. That might be true. After all, at least according to Nixon – before everyone learned it was his idea – Watergate was nothing more than a “third-rate burglary.”

In the case of Turmp, there has, at least not since the bombing of Ft. Sumpter, been anything worse than his long-planned attempted coup. Sure, the cover-up is a veritable smorgasbord of crimes, but the planning, inciting and attempted in-person leading of the assault on the Capitol is tough to beat. Then, there was all of potential evidence was deleted from phones belonging to members of the Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense. It appears that all of these government agencies wiped their text messages right after Turmp’s attempted coup.

I have heard some say it will be all but impossible to LOCK HIM UP. This is due to the requirement for all living presidents, ex or otherwise, twice-impeached or otherwise, anti-American or otherwise, guilty as fucking hell of trying to overturn a legitimate election or otherwise, to have round-the-clock Secret Service protection for life (with or without parole). This would necessitate incarcerating some number of agents along with their protectee. However, I have an idea. Let’s round up the SS agents who deleted their text messages related to January 6 and post them with the man they protected, and they can all do time together. This is why I get the big bucks…or would, if I got any bucks at all.

Those Who Don’t Learn From History
Are Doomed To Fuck It Up For The Rest Of Us

Before we regale you – or perhaps gale you for the first time – with this year’s brand-new verses of the old holiday favorite ‘Twas The Night Before Resignation, on Day 2 of Resignation Day(s), here are a few highlights from the ghost of Resignation Day(s) past.

Just a few more hops down memory lane before the main event:

2013

Pardon me for not forgetting. Pardon me for not letting it go after all these years. Pardon me for dragging you into my obsession. I just can’t seem to quit the man who tarnished America, no easy feat, and then quit rather than face the music. I don’t care if he’s dead, I still want to impeach Nixon. It’s never too late for justice to be done. I know it will never happen in this case, but that doesn’t make it right.

Those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed. Period. And that’s the way it is. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.

2014

Thanks Ed, that was a treat as always. I hope you don’t mind if I add a verse or two for today’s holiday season…

Once more it’s that season, now Obama’s the one
New Impeachers are restless, and each has a gun.
They are angry and senseless, and each one is White
No need for good reason, they just want to fight.

So let’s watch in amusement, as they trip o’er their tongues
As they sputter and spew and expel from their lungs
All the hot air and spittle, all the BS and blight,
Keep it up silly Crackers, and to all a good-night!

2016

Tiny hands, tiny brain, tiny what-the-fuck-ever,
You will lose very bigly and be president…NEVER
Go prepare your next bankruptcy, it’s what you do best
You whiny Tweet-aholic, and sanity’s pest

2017

The endless lies and insanity assaulting us all,
By Constitution, our right and our duty - this Chrump thing must fall.
So I say to you all, Power To The People, Out Of Sight,
More Impeachment to all, and to all a good-night!

2018

Impeachment, resigning once more fill the air,
Now dash away blob with your FAKE orange “hair”,
This Chrump works for Putin, and amplifies hate,

He’s racist, he’s fascist; ain’t America great?

Though mostly Chrump’s tweeting and golfing galore,
He’s doing great damage, let’s show him the door.
Fake “hair”, phony color, his face sphincter speaks,
Let’s vote like we mean it and be rid of this freak.

Colluding, conspiring, with Russia, oh no!
Won’t tell his own people what he said to our foe.
This treasonous cretin makes us all sick and tired,
Let’s pray the next Congress will tell him, “YOU’RE FIRED.”

2019

We heard from The Mueller, in a manner of speaking
He said there were crimes, he said there was sneaking
He all but said, “Congress, it’s time to impeach,”
He said indicting and punishing was out of his reach.

Still helping the Russians help him get re-elected,
With his treason, stealing children from their parents and torturing them, denying climate crisis, treating international allies like dirt and generally threatening global stability, we all are infected
His crimes are innumerable, his racism steady
Impeach The Mother Fucker Already!

2020

‘Twas the night before Resignation

So we had our impeachment, if fell with a squish,
We thought he would go down, did not get our wish.
Chrump escaped, abetted by old Moscow Mitch,

That dastardly, reptilian son-of-a-bitch.

Only one thing might stop this walking crime ‘gainst humanity,
This shit storm perpetrated by this terrestrial manatee.
A second Chrump term will kill America, no doubt,
So, on November the 3rd, VOTE HIM THE FUCK OUT!

2021

‘Twas the night before Resignation
(In 2021 it just gets verse)

Twice, there were Turmp crimes, and all through the House,
There were cries for impeachment, “Get rid of this louse!”*
The crimes were all proved, beyond shadow of doubt,
Witnesses, videos. Throw the bum out.

The country was nestled and nervous and scared,
Of the mad orange man, with the fake orange “hair.”
He bragged about crowd size and hands and whatever,
He promised to fight and stay president forever.

And despite all the evidence, and all the convincing,
Still half the country’s all his, the other half wincing.
It was easy to see that this Turmp was a fascist,
Who put any against him on his miles-long blacklist.

They impeached him not once, they impeached him then twice
The Senate stood by him, we never got to say, “Atsa nice.”
‘Cause he stayed on in office, swore he’d get re-elected,
But the voters said, “Fuck off! Go to hell! You’re rejected!”

The sorest of winners, could not handle such losing,
So he riled up his MAGAts, to believe his delusing,
Go take over the Capitol, it need not make sense,
And while you are at it, try hanging Mike Pence.

Never cared ‘bout America, repeatedly treasonous,
One can’t help but wonder just what the reason is,
Always siding with Putin, and threat’ning Ukraine
To get Hunter Biden? This fucker’s insane.

He whined and he moaned and incited insurrection,
All because he’s psychotic, no one wants his erection.
Turmp still thinks he’s president, or will be reinstated,
His tiny brain and reality are for sure unrelated.

Can the Democrats somehow get brains, spines and balls,
And stop the Turmp Party from having it all?
They unsuccessfully impeached him not once but twice,
There’s nothing left, but to impeach his ass thrice.

_____________________________________________________________
*Actually, the cries were “Impeach The Mother Fucker Already!” which didn’t rhyme with house and would have thrown off the rhythm completely.

2022

‘Twas the night before indictment, and all oer the place
America on the precipice of wars civil and race.
When all of a sudden, we heard such a clatter,
When Merrick Garland said finally, “Something’s the matter.”

Though now Turmp is gone, well not really but sorta
And at least we can’t feel his tiny hand on our aorta,
He is out of high office, the vote saw to that,
But Turmp just won’t accept it, his head is too fat.

He keeps whining and calling to get the votes changed
Turmp can’t let it go, he’s a fascist, deranged.
He deserves a subpoena, or at least an indictment,
For his scheming and plotting and his violent incitement.

For his eating, burning, shredding and stealing of documents,
And even mixing some in with his voluminous excrements,
The White House plumber (not Nixon’s) needed always be near.
For Turmp’s flushing of documents, no punishment too severe.

On Rudy, on Hawley, McCarthy and Gaetz,
On Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, and oh how they hates.
They want a White nation of Christians, not Jews,
Their divorce from reality is surely not news.

Two impeachments, one term, there has not been one worse,
And the cause of such angst, and such torturous verse.
Drag him off by his feet, or his “hair” or whatever,
Let him back in the White House? Oh fuck no! Oh fuck, NEVER!

As Trump goes kicking, screaming and fake-tweeting into that good night (good for us, that is), we will continue our appointed rounds, unfazed. Well, maybe fazed, but undaunted.

So, without further ado, or a don’t, or a maybe, Paying Attention™ brings you our 2023 installment of the Resignation Day(s) festivities.

We’ve now had some indictments, p'rhaps justice is nigh,
Trump can’t keep his fat trap shut, is he stupid or high?
He confess to crimes, and he threatens the judges
Trump must have a death wish, he just never budges.

Trump declares many things, not one is a fact,
Like saying he’s protected by the Presidential Records Act.
He keeps claiming this thing, his head’s a latrine,
That act does not mean what he thinks that it means.

Donny Douchebag’s still running, for to stay out of jail,
And our justice moves slowly, at the pace of a snail.
We must hope that Jack Smith, can in court be successful,
And get orange jumpsuit and bars surrounding this asshul.

Will the Fascist Party nominate an indicted or convicted felon,
Who atop his shoulders sports a hollow, festering melon?
Will Trump serve as president from a crappy cell,
While the rest of America, slides into hell?

Only time will tell if there’s life after Trump,
Or our democratic republic ends up mildewed and buried in
the trash heap of history, in a rotting, smelly dump.
There’s no telling how dimly America’s light might flicker,
Before we just hope Climate Crisis ends it all quicker.

That is all for this year, there’s too much crazy shit,
So much stupid and criming, and dumb fascist twits.
Trump’s impeachments were foiled by McConnell, et al,
Despite that the House had him grabbed by the balls.

For us, now it’s back to news, needles and pins,
And the soul-crunching fear that Trump somehow wins.
Let’s think and let’s pray, and then hope and then vote,
So that Trump is pariah, when history’s wrote.

I imagine having the same sentiment when
Turmp finally meets his very flawed maker

Until next year, from all your unimpeachable sources at Paying Attention: Ed Venture, I. Mangrey, T. Doff, Allison Wundarland, Ann T. Soshal and our intern – Yuno Hoo, we hope you’re enjoying Resignation Day(s) 2023.

Resignation Day(s) 2023, Day One

Those Who Don't Celebrate History Are Doomed To Regret It

August 8, 2023

As always, Paying Attention suspends our regular coverage of the day's events to celebrate one of the truly unique moments (two days, actually) in American history. There is much to cover every single day as we find ourselves in another unique period in our nation's fragile maturation. Nonetheless, we hope you have some free time to celebrate this momentous holiday.

Told you so

The favorite holiday of everyone here at Paying Attention™ is upon us once again. Sure, many people prefer Festivus, or some of the older, more mainstream holidays, but Resignation Day(s) have long held a special place for everyone here since that fateful night, August 8, 1974. We were enjoying a pleasant evening in the Philadelphia suburbs watching the great Bonnie Raitt perform at the Ambler campus of Temple University. A little after nine o’clock, Bonnie stopped the show to announce that the war criminal, lying crook, anti-Semite, and all-around vengeful, paranoid malefactor Dick Nixon had announced that he would be resigning as of noon the very next day. As a great cheer went up from the audience, Raitt played Auld Lang Syne and then finished her planned set. We went home afterwards and celebrated in style. Oh, frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Dick Nixon’s idiot henchmen were caught breaking into the Watergate offices of the DNC by security guard Frank Wills, whose life was ruined because he did his job by reporting the break-in. Nearly 47 years later, on January 6, 2021, Donald Trump’s idiot henchmen got caught – though they made no attempt to hide anything – assaulting law enforcement and breaking into the Capitol to shit on the walls and on democracy itself. It did not take a security guard to uncover this episode of nascent fascism. Trump’s malignant minions were caught in the act by everyone watching the whole thing on live tv. The perpetrators were, and many still are proud of what they did, being dangerously delusional and all. Others claim it was all a false flag operation perpetrated by the FBI. These people need a nice quiet room with rubber walls. All in all, they seem to want to have it both ways. They should be permitted neither.

A number of Ratpublicans have suggested that Mike Pence, who aided and abetted Trump for five years, was a hero on that day and deserved a medal. Why? Because he, like Frank Wills, did his job? Frank Wills did not spend years aiding and abetting Nixon as Pence did for Trump.

Pence spent much of Jan 6 running away from his boss’ angry mob (a mob Pence still hopes to woo for a farfetched presidential run). The same mob who wanted to hang him by his neck. Pence eventually carried out his constitutional duty, though beforehand Pence was hoping he could carry out Turmp’s wishes and overturn the legitimate election that made it clear he and his boss had lost bigly. Frank Wills died in abject poverty, unable to afford water or electricity. Mike Pence thinks he is running for president…of an imagined Christian nation where the Bible trumps the Constitution.

Today, many in the Fascist (nee Republican) Party are clamoring for the impeachment of President Joe Biden, for reasons that only exist in their badly damaged brains. We, on the other hand, are currently enamored of a different “I” word – INDICTMENT. The tsunami of indictments raining down on the former guy are based on actual facts, unimpeachable audio and video evidence and myriad confessions by numerous parties involved, including the ringleader himself and some of his lawyers.

Can Things Possibly Get Any Verse?

As we have done most years since 2008 when a wonderful poem was rescued from obscurity, we present those now famous stanzas with new verses being added yearly.

Here is the original long-lost text as presented in 2008…

I stumbled across a bit of this very old, well-known verse that I thought would be fun to share with everyone at this special time of year.  It’s an age-old seasonal ditty and this being my favorite American holiday and all.  I’m not sure I remembered all of the words correctly but I’ve rendered them to the best of my recollection, and I may have been overzealous and inadvertently added a few verses that didn’t exist at all.  But, it’s full of holiday magic and joy – a favorite of children and adults throughout the ages so read it to your children and grandchildren to keep the tradition alive.  Now without further ado, in honor of August 8-9, 1974, a moment in history, which our Founders would surely have savoured, I bring you…

‘Twas the night before Resignation

‘Twas the night before Resignation, when all through the house
Richard Nixon was cornered, like a trapped diseased mouse.
His burglars had screwed it tho they burgled with care,
His cover-up in ruins, soon the end would be there.

The Congress were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of impeachment danced in their heads.
Sam Irvin with his gavel, exposed all the crap,
And roused our democracy from a long winter’s nap.

So all o’er the land there arose such a clatter,
Even the public could see what was the matter.
And there it was every day on TV like a flash,
Then everyone knew the president was trash.

It was hard to imagine this crook being regal
Tho he said, “If the president does it then it is not illegal.”
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But his lies all exposed and the end of his career.

A great day for democracy, it happened so quick,
What could be worse than that horrid old Dick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And all those were sentenced and each one by name!

"Now Haldeman! now, Erlichman! now, Mitchell and Dean!
On, Colson! On, Liddy!, oh my what a scene!
They all came a tumbling from the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

August 9, 1974 reimagined: Two great tastes that taste great together:
Nixon’s very victorious shameful resignation and
Bush’s equally iconic/ironic MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

We hope this helps get you in the mood. Keep the party going while there remains any glimmer of hope for the future. All the aforementioned crises are not going away any time soon. But we can take these two days to reflect on the past, take a deep breath knowing that the political career of Donald Trump is melting away like the Wicked Witch after Dorothy doused her with a bucket of water (the same thing might be literally possible with Trump – has anyone tried it?), and duct tape our fingers crossed for the future.

In the meantime, enjoy Day One, but be sure to get some rest. You’ll need all your strength to get through Resignation Day(s) Two.

Make Arraignments Great Again

The Defendant, feeling down in the trumps,
skulking back to Bedminster on his most arraign-y day

Ninety percent of Fux News believe that their cult leader Trump has not done anything wrong.

Fifty percent of hardcore Trump supporters do not believe Der Furor had any classified documents stashed at Mor-on-Lago; this despite the photographic evidence and the fact that Trump has repeatedly not only admitted he had such documents in his possession, but he continues to flog the lie that anything he touches belongs to him.

In other horrifying polling, a theoretical race between Trump and Biden has them dead even at 43% apiece. Put that in your pipe and shove it down your throat until you can’t breathe anymore.

The just barely good news is that 52% of Ratpublican voters say they would not vote for Trump if was actually in prison at election time; “only” 28% said they would.

Must Be TV

The trial date for Trump’s Washington, DC wrestling match with reality is due to be set on August 28th. There has likely not been a more consequential trial in our nation’s history.

Hope springs eternal

The trial of Donald J. Trump must be televised on the outside chance that some of his delusional followers might accidentally learn the truth. Sure, most of them are immune to reality, but a few might fall victim to the truth. Forget about COVID-19, it only killed off a million or so in this country. The raging Stupid Epidemic threatens to do much worse. Long COVID will feel like a spa day compared to how people in this country whose IQ scores do not begin with a decimal point will feel should we be reinfected by the Trump Virus.

Let My People Know

If nothing else, those of us who were conscious during Trump’s four disastrous, disgraceful, duplicitous years saw what he did every criminal day and we know exactly what happened on January 6 when he attempted to incite his mentally-challenged minions to stage a coup.

We deserve to see this treacherous cretin have our…I mean his…day in court. We should be able to watch him sweat and squirm as one after another in his team of scurrilous lawyers testify against him – the lone defendant (for now). We want to see his evil spirit broken, his “fortune” evaporated by legal fees and his fat fucking ass kept as far away from our White House as geographically – or at least metaphorically – possible, until the end of days. Because, as we were told by ex-White House physician Ronny Jackson – who made sexual comments, drank alcohol and took Ambien during his time as White House physician – “I told the president that if he had a healthier diet over the last 20 years, he might live to be 200 years old.” Jackson is now a jackass congressman from Texass. He remains a Trump fanboy. But, I digress.

In fact, since there’s so much clamor for fascism here in the good old U.S. of A, I say that every network, including the Home Shopping Network, Newsmax, Fux News and the Golf Channel, should be temporarily appropriated for the purpose of broadcasting this historic event from opening gavel to guilty verdict.

Even one of Trump’s idiot lawyers told a Fux News audience that the trial should be televised. This same lawyer, during the same interview, somehow admitted that his client committed two of the counts against him.

A Shocking Development

Trump’s attorneys may be idiots, but they’re not stupid. In the image below, they are seen prepping their client for the unlikely and potentially dangerous event they need to put him on the witness stand. They know that their client is a very unstable moron who cannot control what his mouth says; he is either lying or threatening people 99% of the time.

Despite the total lack of meaningful brain activity, it’s worth a try

Confounding Fathers

Common Senseless

August 4, 2023

Thomas Paine’s famous pamphlet Common Sense was a lynchpin in the machinery of the 1776 American Revolution. You remember the American Revolution – it was in all the papers. A ragtag file of British colonists bravely masquerading as Native Americans had a very messy Tea Party in Boston, and the colonists ultimately divested themselves from the Royal Crown, eventually subsuming their overlords of yore and running roughshod over any number of countries over the centuries. Like fatherland, like son.

Today, another ragtag mob of anti-woke weasels, most of whom you can bet never read Paine’s Common Sense, or probably even heard of Thomas Paine, or at best could not understand Paine’s meaning, has got it into their perfidy little heads that they are the ones with modern common sense. As of 2006, Paine’s Common Sense remained the all-time best-selling American title and is still in print today. Unfortunately, most of today’s wannabe revolutionaries either cannot or will not read much of anything that either comes straight from the insanely antic-democratic Donald Trump, or does not begin with the letter ‘Q’.

Where Paine’s message was one of egalitarian government, those who besmirch Common Sense and common sense are fighting against egalitarianism, in favor of an authoritarian society in which they have perpetual, unquestioned control. You know, fascists.

Common Nonsense

Trump’s MAGAts, who claim to be the rightful heirs to the Founders, the Revolution of 1776, and all that is right and good about America (i.e., White makes right) are immovably bound to a man who makes Benedict Arnold look like George Washington. He not our best people; he’s sniffing drugs, committing crimes and he’s a rapist.*

Seventy percent of these very fine whack jobs continue to insist that Joe Biden is an illegitimate president. We do not have the final numbers on how many of these folks believe the Earth is flat, the Moon is made of green cheese, Jesus rode a dinosaur and God didn’t make little green apples.

A number of these yahoos were screaming “1776” as they stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021 in their deluded attempt to end democracy in America. Those who are not now doing time for their crime, and maybe even some who are, continue to exist in the Trumpian haze of perfidy and free-dumb. They are gearing up for more sedition and the hope of seeing their cult daddy back in the White House to put the final nail in American democracy’s waiting coffin. And they are willing to do anything to reinstall their dear leader, even if he is convicted of the most serious crimes ever perpetrated by a government official, let alone a president – albeit one who could not even come close to winning the popular vote if his life depended on it, which it very well may at this moment in history.

To be fair, these mental defectives do have a good deal in common with many of the Founders. Here are just a few salient points showing that maybe today’s assholes are in fact not so divorced from this nation’s Founding Fathers (naturally we have all but obliterated the contributions of the women of that time):

Today’s faux-founder fan boys are desperate to return to the old days. They would be happy to keep people of color and women from voting. They believe that slavery benefitted those who were enslaved. They have no problem when cops shoot unarmed Black people in the back, or kneel on their necks for nine minutes.

For his part, Cult Daddy Trump, who is running on a blatantly fascist platform for 2024, is unabashedly threatening dangerous consequences should anyone try to LOCK HIM UP! for all the crimes he is alleged to have allegedly committed.

“If you fuck around with us, if you do something bad to us,
we are going to do things to you that have never been done before.”
Professional defendant Donald J. Trump, July 20, 2023

* At least according to Judge Lewis Kaplan, who denied Trump’s bid to throw out the jury’s decision in the E. Jean Carroll case. In the latest judicial smackdown to Dumb Donald, Judge Kaplan wrote: “The finding that Carroll failed to prove that she was ‘raped’ within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’ Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.”

Broken News

Re-Indicted, And It Feels So Good

August 2, 2023

Disgraced, twice-impeached, now-thrice-indicted (so far), failed insurrection leader and Fifth-Amendment-dependent ex-one-term-president and current professional defendant Donald Trump, along with six co-conspirators, has once again been indicted. This time, the indictment is coming out of Washington, DC as a result of the January 6 investigation, not in the court of Florida’s Trump-appointed fake judge Aileen Cannon.

Trump is now facing four more charges: conspiracy to defraud the United States; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and conspiracy against rights. Add these to the 34 counts in the New York Stormy Daniels/hush money case and the 40 counts in the Florida stolen documents case. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving douchebag.

Special Counsel Jack Smith administers
pre-trial noogies to his special defendant

Jack Smith, during his brief post-second-indictment statement, made it clear that the defendant was presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I apparently misjudged Mr. Smith. I was certain that he did not have a sense of humor.

Attorney General Merrick Garland made an even briefer statement in Philadelphia:

Immediately after the January 6 attack on our democracy, career men and women of the Justice Department engaged in what has become the largest investigation in our history. In November last, I appointed Jack Smith as special counsel to take on the ongoing investigation in order to underline the department’s commitment to accountability and independence. Mr. Smith and his team of experienced, principled career agents and prosecutors have followed the facts and the law wherever they lead. Any questions about this matter will have to be answered by the filings made in a courtroom.

And that my friends, has Donald Trump soiling his diaper.

But Wait, There’s More…

New York Attorney General Letitia James' office announced this week the $250 million lawsuit filed against the 2024 hopeful alleging “widespread fraud” is set for trial.

The case James filed in September 2022 “accuses Mr. Trump, his family business and three of his children of a ‘staggering’ fraud for overvaluing the former president's assets by billions of dollars. The lawsuit seeks $250 million that Ms. James contends the Trumps reaped through those deceptions, and asks a judge to essentially run the former president out of business in the state if he is found liable at trial.”

Strategery 101

Smith Got Game

July 31, 2023

Someone who displays significant strategic advantage over a hapless adversary is often described as playing three-dimensional chess, while their foe is playing checkers.

Special Counsel Jack Smith seems to have added a few new dimensions to his game. It is looking like Trump’s Florida indictments are a smokescreen. He knew he was likely to get Trump’s unqualified, unserious pet judge to hear the case, so he tossed these indictments as a diversion while he put together the Washington, DC indictments for Trump’s January 6 kerfuffle – as his enablers like to call it.

The DC charges are possibly more serious, and more likely to be tried much sooner than Florida. And there will almost certainly be a real judge in DC. The extra bonus is that when Trump is found guilty in DC – perhaps of sedition or insurrection – his bid to re-steal the White House will be over, either electorally or legally. Then after the election that Trump will either lose or be watching from the sidelines or a cell, the Florida case can proceed and no pardon will be forthcoming. Double fucking whammy.

If you’re considering inviting Donald over for dinner, you’d better
get on his schedule soon; his calendar is filling up pretty fast.
And two more indictments are looming bigly.

For his part, disgraced, twice-impeached, twice-indicted (so far), failed insurrection leader and Fifth-Amendment-dependent ex-one-term-president Trump insists that neither arrest, indictment or imprisonment will interfere with his campaigning. Trump is desperately seeking a second term (third if you ask him) for the sole purpose of pardoning himself after he is found guilty of any or all of the crimes against the United States that he knows full well he committed during and after his time in office.

Someone else knows what Trump did last summer. Newly indicted co-conspirator Carlos De Oliveira told a Mor-on-Lago IT guy that “the boss” wanted the server containing the security video records deleted. When the IT guy pushed back, saying he would need approval from his security supervisor, De Oliveira again stated that “the boss” wanted the server deleted. Guess who was the boss of him.

“I never liked the White House anyway,
I’ll be president from right here.”

Despite the fact that Trump is playing checkers, there is no way he is going to get kinged.

Funny Thing

Shortly after completing this post, I found that someone else was playing with the same chess/checkers analogy. However, this does not put me in good company. Ultra-psychotic loser Karen Kari Lake, who is vying to outdo Trump when it comes to election denial, still claims she is the newly elected governor of Arizona. She is not. Lake, despite her delusions of being governor of Arizona, is desperately trying to get on the Trump 2024 ticket. She came up with the following regarding Jack Smith v. Don Trump…

“They're playing checkers and President Trump is playing, you know, chess at the highest level, so I don't think they want to pick a fight with him.

That’s right folks. Donald Trump is running rings around poor Jack Smith. If memory serves, Smith is not the one rage posting every day in all caps. Nor is Smith the one who stole classified documents and then lied to authorities about returning everything. Smith is not the one who has been caught directing underlings to destroy evidence, or the one who incited an insurrection designed to overturn the free and fair election he lost. Only one of the players in this game of chesskers is facing 74 federal counts. And it is not Jack Smith.

I may need to alter my analogy: Jack Smith is playing multi-dimensional chess, while Trump is playing solitaire...you know, playing with himself.

He doesn’t look at Kari the way he looks at Ivanka, but she’ll do
(whatever Donny wants)

I. Mangrey, reevaluating.

Slaves With Benefits

How White You Are

July 26, 2023

As if I needed any further fodder (wait, that can’t be right, shouldn’t it be any fodder further?) for my angst and, let’s call it discontent. It has come to my attention that many of the Africans dragged from their homes and who managed not to die on the voyage across the ocean wherein they were transported like debris (not exactly a Carnival Cruise), and then became slaves in the New World, benefitted greatly from their captivity by developing “skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit”* someday down the road…possibly. Some benefitted by learning skills like not dying from savage beatings, inhuman working conditions, rape, perpetual emotional torture and not being lynched. Apparently, some also gained skills like blacksmithing, or golfing or something, which they could then use later in life if they were not being hunted down by angry White mobs who refused to admit that 1) slavery was inherently evil, and 2) slavery had been abolished in the United States.

Would this be considered a skill?

Holocaust Deniers, Meet Slavery Deniers

None of my ancestors had the luxury of being dragged half way across the globe, enslaved by a bunch of savages and learning marketable skills. Most of my ancestors were merely dragged from their homes, taken a little ways away and murdered in Nazi concentration camps, where no useful skills were imparted to those who managed to escape dreadful slaughter.

One of the Fux News talking heads decided to drag noted Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor ViKtor Frankl (who he referred to as “Vik Frankl” because I guess they were buddies in an alternate reality) into the fray, whining that Frankl said that some Jews survived the death camps by making themselves useful. Keep digging asshole.

Naturally, the rabid rat-in-a-tie who took Fucker Carlson’s place (remember him?) on Fux was appalled, appalled I tell you, that Vice President Kamala Harris had the audacity to push back against Florida’s decision – based on Ron DuhSantis’ “War on Woke” – to begin teaching the delusional up-side to the indelible stain on the American Experiment that was slavery.

Carlson’s repugnant replacement Jesse Watters posed this: “I just have to ask the African Americans watching right now [African Americans, plural? Watching Fux News? Really?] What’s it like to be lied to by Kamala Harris? What’s it like to be lied to by these buffoons on MSNBC?” One imagines it is much like being lied to every single minute of every single day by watching Fux News, except that the almost-all-white, almost-all-over-60 Fux audience wouldn’t know a lie if it pissed on their leg and called it rain. Oh wait, that’s what Fux does all the time.

Done DuhSantis

On a happier note, Florida Governor Ron DeRacist, now that his political career has come to an ignominious, hard-earned conclusion, should be sold into slavery to learn a new skill.

___________________________________________
* Quoth the craven Ron DuhSantis, while claiming he had nothing to do with the Florida bored of “education” attempting to whitewash the disgraceful institution of slavery. After mewling, “I didn’t do it. I had nothing to do with it,” DuhSantis went on to explain why he thought it was a good idea to teach about the benefits of having been enslaved in America.

I. Mangrey reconstructing.
