As we head into a long holiday weekend, not as long as the recent COVID-19 weekend, but a long weekend nonetheless, it is time to acknowledge another significant day in American history. Jim Morrison passed away 49 years ago today.

Tomorrow as some of you may know, remember, and/or care is the 244th anniversary of the day the American colonies declared their independence from the British Crown. This of course was only really a thing for white folks. And pretty much only really mattered for white, land-owning males, but who’s counting. In order to whet your whistle for tomorrow’s First Annual Fourth of July/COVID-19 Holiday Extravaganza, we present Paying Attention’s First Annual Fourth of July/COVID-19 Holiday Extravaganza Eve Thought For The Day.

Interesting, Vladimir Putin, the Taliban and Donald Chrump (and no small number of Republican’t Chrump enablers) insist that reports by U.S. intelligence of Russia paying bounties for killing American (and some allied) troops are nothing but…wait for it…a hoax. It really is not a surprise that Chrump ignoring intelligence. He constantly questions the intelligence he gets. The rest of us constantly question what intelligence he has.
