Thought For The Night

Run For Your Life If You Can Little Girl

July 3, 2021

World-class U.S. Olympic track star, Sha‘Carri Richardson has been suspended from competition and may lose her spot on the team because she tested positive for cannabis. She said she knew the rules but turned to cannabis as a coping mechanism after finding out her biological mother had died. Richardson apologized profusely, and showed she was more mature than the rules that resulted in her suspension.

According to the United States Anti-Doping Agency rules, cannabis “has the potential to enhance performance and violates the spirit of the sport.” Richardson, a favorite to win a gold medal in the 100-meter dash, used cannabis after learning that her biological mother had passed away.

Ms. Richardson, who is 21 years old, was in Oregon at the time – a state where cannabis use is legal. She broke the 100 m record at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in 2019. Probably thanks to cannabis, which everyone knows, makes people run faster, jump higher and sleep a lot after eating everything in the house and staring at their hands for an hour.

Apparently, cannabis was added to the list of banned substances two years ago, when the rest of the civilized world finally began to realize that people should not be punished for indulging in its use for medicinal and/or recreational purposes.

This has been your Paying Attention Thought For The Night.

No performance-enhancing substances were used in the reporting of this story.

What is your thought for the night?
