The newly Turmp-infested Supreme Court is dancing on the grave of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. As if they had been sitting at her bedside as she drew her final breath, waiting to celebrate by showing not only their long-sought goal of outlawing the right of women to control their own bodies and shouting their misogyny from the steps of the Court, but to show utter contempt for the Constitution to which they have sworn an oath. All this, despite the majority of Americans (60%) supporting a woman’s right to choose.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s professional life was dedicated to enhancing and protecting women’s rights. Her body was still warm when Mitch Fucking McConnell told Turmp who to nominate. Precedent held that a justice should be replaced by someone of similar philosophical temperament. Ginsburg was replaced by her polar opposite – anti-choice, anti-women’s rights Amy Coney Barrett, who is getting wet at the thought of forcing other women to give birth. While RBG was, even before her exemplary term on the Supreme Court, was an absolute heavyweight, Coney Barrett has all the heft of a pigeon feather.

Every one of Turmp’s three radical appointees, setting aside the fact that two of them have no right being on the bench absent McConnell’s hypocrisy and authoritarian strong-arming, lied through their teeth when questioned about this very so-called hypothetical. And they are very young and so, likely to be on the Bench for too many years to come. As if all that were not enough, five of the nine current Supreme Court justices were appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote. They were chosen expressly for their political views, especially regarding Roe v. Wade, and reinstating Jim Crow.

May It Displease The Court

If this does not inspire Democrats and their party’s leader – who happens to be President of the United States – and every American who cares anything for women and democracy, to support balancing the Supreme Court, which has been flagrantly and artificially stacked with “justices” selected for just this moment, the “stench” Justice Sotomayor described will become overwhelming. Adding at least two more – staggeringly liberal – justices, to make up for the two stolen seats, may be the only way there can be anything like justice in this country’s future.
